Mediacorp Channel 8 commonly known as Channel 8 is a Singaporean Mandarin Television Channel. It is a free-to-air first Chinese language channel in Singapore and nearby areas. It is the second channel among the first two Mandarin Television Channels in Singapore.
Mediacorp Channel 8 is managed and owned by Mediacorp Pte Ltd, one of the leading broadcasting group of Singapore. Generally, this channel was founded by RTS (Radio Television Singapore) in Singapore on 23 November 1963. After the merging of SPH Media Works and Mediacorp on 1 January 2005, it was served as Mediacorp Channel U. This channel first broadcasted on air on 23 November 1963 as Saluran 8 Television Singapura. After that, all the Mandarin channels are acquired by China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Due to this, all the Mandarin programmes are being broadcasted in different Chinese dialects. Sister channels of Mediacorp are Channel 5, Channel U, Okto, HD5 and some more. Channel 8 is available for both high definition as well as standard-definition dth boxes. Firstly this channel was broadcasted in Singapore and Malaysia, but after that it started its broadcasting in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
