Ng Eng Hen has been the Minister of Defence since 2011 and in 2015 he was re-elected in this role. He was born on 10 December 1958 in Singapore where he attended Anglo-Chinese School and National Junior College. After that, Ng Eng Hen going to the University of Singapore for medical training and before joining this he fellowship training surgical oncology in Houston. Ng Eng Hen was a consultant surgeon at the famous Singapore General Hospital from the year 1992 to 1997. Ng Eng Hen started his political career in 2001 when he was elected as a Member of Parliament for Bishan-Toa Payoh Group and in 2002 he was made a Minister of the State at the Ministry of Education. Ng Eng Hen is married to Ivy Swee Lian who is the CEO of SingHealth and this couple has four children. Recently, in a conference, he said that they aim to boost Asean security cooperation in Singapore.
