Yuwu was born on 28 November 1976 in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. He was studied at Guangzhou Physical Education Institution before moving to the Singapore. He is also the winner of the title of Champion and Mr. Personality in 1999 in Asian Star Search in China round. After this, he worked as a model also and Qi played a lead role in Guangzhou produced television series. In the year 2000, he was appointed for his debut role in Master Swordsman Lu Xionfeng as Sikong Zhaixing. Apart from the television shows he appeared in some international movies also such as in the year 2011 he appeared in Australian 3-D Horror film named as Bait 3D. He got married to Joanne Peh on 9 September 2014 and on 7 August 2015 couple welcomed a baby girl.
