He was born on 3 October 1955 in the colony of Singapore. Yaacob Ibrahim was studied at Tanjong Katong Technical Secondary School and after that, he is graduated from the University of Singapore with a degree in civil engineering in the year of 1980. After that Yaacob Ibrahim joined the National University of Singapore Faculty in the year 1991. He is the member of the Parliament since 1997 and the Moulmein-Kallang GRC since the general election in 2011. Yaacob Ibrahim is a Vice Chairman also on the PAP Central Executive Committee. Currently, he is serving as the Minister for Communications and Information and Minister-In-Charge of Muslim Affairs. Recently he rules himself out of the Presidential Election as applications or September polls open.
