Gan Kim Yong is a famous and popular Singaporean politician. He is currently serving as the Minister of Health in Singapore cabinet and working in the office since 21 May 2011. He is the member of the People’s Action Party since 2001 and current Member of the Parliament for Chua Chu Kang GRC since 7 May 2011.
He was born on 9 February 1959. Gan Kim Yong was educated at Catholic High School and National Junior College. Later on, he went to the University of Cambridge where Gan Kim Yong completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1981. After that in 1985, Gan Kim Yong gained his master’s degree from Cambridge University. Gan Kim Yong began his career in the Singapore Civil Service at the Ministry of Trade and Industry but later he left the civil service and joined Natsteel Ltd. In 2001, Gan Kim Yong was elected as the MP for the Holland Bukit and later he became Minister of Education and Minister of Manpower. By following the 2 general elections of 2011 and 2015 Gan Kim Yong was appointed as the Minister for Health. Currently, he also serves as an elder at the Chen Li Presbyterian Church.
