Goh Chok Tong is a well-known and popular Singaporean politician. He is the member of the People’s Action Party (PAP). Goh Chok Tong served as the 2nd Prime Minister of Singapore from 28 November 1990 to 12 August 2004. He is the member of the Singapore Parliament since 1988 for constituency Marine Parade.
He was born on 20 May 1941 in Singapore. Goh Chok Tong studied at Raffles Institution from 1955 to 1960. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with first class honors in economics from the University of Singapore. In 1967, he completed his master degree in Master of Arts (MA) from Williams College. From 1969 to 1977 Goh Chok Tong worked at Neptune Orient Lines. In 1976 at the age of 25, he was selected as Member of the Parliament for Marine Parade as PAP candidate. On 28 November 1990, Goh Chok Tong became the second prime minister of Singapore. In his Prime Minister career, Goh Chok Tong started many policies such as Medisave, vehicle quota scheme, elected president and more. If we talk about his personal life then he is married to Tan Choo Leng and they have a son and a daughter who are twins.
